- 01École St-Landry (École) is a public school in Saint Landry Parish (SLP), Louisiana, which makes us tuition-free and an option for any student residing in SLP and beyond—most commonly coming neighboring parishes. We are a Type-1 public charter school. École is unique among other schools throughout the parish and even the state of Louisiana. We are French-immersion elementary school. All subjects are learned in French, with the exception of English, known in Education as English Language Arts and ELA. Charter Schools Charter schools are tuition-free public schools of choice that are independently run by a nonprofit community board and authorized by an elected board, either a local school board or the state board of elementary and secondary education. In the case of École St-Landry, we are a Type 1 charter school in Saint Landry Parish. As a public charter school, we are responsible for every single dollar of our start-up costs, which include facility rental and renovation, student books and curriculum, furniture, administrative salaries, and much, much more. Learn more (https://www.lacharterschools.org/about)on the Louisiana Association of Public Charter Schools's website.
- 02Use the following table to confirm which grades are available by year. The school year begins in August of a particular year (ex: 2021) and ends in May of the next year (ex: 2022). This is written is 2021-22. Example The school year or "Year" begins in August of calendar (ex: August 2021) and releases for summer break in May of the following year (ex: 2022). For this example, the school year in reference is 2021-2022 and shortened to 2021-22.
- 03All operations are currently hosted on Campus Napoléon, which École's primary campus located at 671 Napoléon Avenue, in Sunset, Louisiana. All primary grades, Kindergarten and up, are hosted on Campus Napoléon. Renovations Update As of Fall 2025, we are nearing completion on all renovations related to our secondary campus, which will be at the site of the former Sunset High School on Marie Street, just a few blocks east of Campus Napoléon.
- 04Our DNA The biggest difference is at our core. We are a francophone (French-speaking) and French-Immersion school. Most other options, with the exception of just three (3) statewide, are immersion programs housed at existing, public, anglophone (English-speaking) school with an French immersion pathway. Our Language(s) École's accessibility is as world-class as our curriculum. You can communicate with our administrative staff in French, English, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Russian. École's administrators are available in both French and English; Le Bureau's team is supported via Le Bureau's Family and Student services in all other aforementioned languages. Some documentation is available exclusively in English, for the time being, and we welcome any questions via email to Office@EcoleStLandry.org.(Office@EcoleStLandry.org.) (Office@EcoleStLandry.org.)We will do our best to accommodate communications in any language.
- 05If your Écolier currently resides in another parish while attending École, your Écolier was an Out-of-Parish Transfer to École (also known as a Parish-to-Parish Transfer) approved by Saint Landry Parish School Board (SLPSB.org)(SLPSB.org). SLPSB's bus transportation services serve parish residents. SLPSB may require approval for Out-of-Parish Transfer students (Écoliers residing outside SLP).
